The following is a message from Ruxing Xing from the Côte-St-Luc EMS.
I am writing on behalf of Cote Saint Luc Emergency Medical Services. We are a unique government volunteer organization that offers students the opportunity to be involved in the front lines of the medical field. Our members are trained by the Quebec Ministere de la Sante et des Services Sociaux (MSSS) as First responders and are then subjected to additional emergency medical training to prepare them to respond to 911 calls in ambulances.
As the only volunteer first responder service on the island of Montreal that is dispatched directly by the 911 system, we offer a unique experience to anyone who is interested in the medical field as we see case loads that is unmatched by other such volunteer organizations and have a scope of practice that is larger than other first responder organizations, including performing cardiac monitoring through ECG and capillary glucose monitoring and much more.
We hope to expand our search of new members and would like to invite you to spread the message among your student population. CSL EMS not only gives you hands on clinical experience, it also offers a great way to give back to the society and is also a great asset for applying to medical schools.
We hope to see you all at our next information session which will be held on August 28 and September 1, 2013. For more details on the information sessions, please refer to our Facebook event which can be found via the following link: https://www.facebook.com/events/323651251104202/
Please let your student population know of this wonderful volunteer opportunity and if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me
