World AIDS day is soon coming up and the McGill Nurses for Global Heath invite you to the screening of the documentary Lazarus Effect on Tuesday November 27 at 12:00, in Wilson Hall Room 105.
The 30-minute documentary follows the story of HIV positive people in Africa who in as few as 40 days undergo a remarkable transformation thanks to access to treatment that costs around 40 cents a day. HIV-positive patients and medical staff recount their experiences and the impact medication has made on their lives in their own words. They include Constance Mudenda, a moth er whose children all died of AIDS, and who now works as a peer education supervisor at an AIDS clinic; Paul Nsangu, a young husband and father; Bwalya, an 11-year-old girl who at the beginning of the film looks like a child half her age, because of her disease; and Concillia Muhau, a young mother who recovered from the brink of death, and now also works as a peer counsellor.
Everyone is welcome. Snacks and red ribbons will be provided.
