1) 2012 Ambassador Night – October 1st

Are you interested in doing the Ambassador Program? Do you have no idea what the Ambassador Program is and what to learn about it? Join us on October 1st at 6-8pm in McConnell Room 204 to hear about former students who have done their clinical rotations in Uganda, Philippines and Sri Lanka. All are welcome, from U0 to U3! 2) Sixth Annual Global Health Night – Save the date!

It’s that time of year again – McGill’s Global Health Programs will be hosting its annual Global Health Night on Wednesday November 7. Whether you are new to global health or a seasoned global health veteran, this is THE opportunity to meet McGill’s Global Health community! This night is meant for McGill students passionate about global health from all disciplines to share their ideas, experiences and projects, enjoy some wine and cheese, and listen to some inspirational guest speakers share their perspectives on global health.

3) McGill Global Health Programs Images that Inspire Photography Competition

Did you participate in a global health-related field study, elective or volunteer experience in 2010/2011? Do you have exceptional photographs from that experience that you’d like to share with the global health community at McGill? Would you like to enter those photographs into a competition to win some money?

McGill Global Health Programs is currently accepting submissions for its annual ­­­­­­Images that Inspire Photography Competition. Photos will be judged by a panel and the favourite photo will earn a cash prize of $75.  This photo, along with a selection of the best submissions, will be published on the home page of our website and displayed at the annual Global Health Night (see above). A maximum of 3 photographs that depict a global health theme can be submitted. Each photo must be accompanied by a brief description of 1-2 sentences.

Please submit your photos to<> no later than October 22nd, 2012.  Clearly indicate your name, student number, program and year of study in the email.  We look forward to seeing your excellent photos!

4)  NUS Constitution

Want to have a say in how your NUS is operates? Currently, the NUS constitution is outdated and in need of revamping. Anyone interested in working alongside your fellow students in rewriting the NUS constitution please<>. Deadline for all those interested in joining in on the endeavor is Friday September 21, 2012 at 6:00pm. A meeting time will be set after the deadline and the time commitment is variable depending on students schedules.

5) Student Association for Medical Aid

Want to get involved in your McGill community? Want to make a difference, both locally and internationally? Join the Student Association for Medical Aid (SAMA)!

We are a non-profit humanitarian organization, which raises funds throughout the year to benefit our projects in developing countries throughout the world. Recently, members have helped build latrines in Uganda, aid in child health screening in Ethiopia, and contributed to a women’s health project in Kenya. Our local volunteering opportunities and outreach program also allow our members to make a difference in the McGill and Montreal communities.

Student Coordinator Application

We are seeking three (3) student representatives interested in shaping global health education at McGill University. Students from any of the health professions (Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Speech and Language Pathology), as well as Epidemiology and Social Sciences may apply to the position of 2013 Global Health Course Student Coordinators.

As a student coordinator, you will meet regularly from September 2012 to May 2013 with the course faculty advisors who will guide and mentor you through the course development. Together, we hope to create a vision for the course and improve its quality and success.
